Princess and Holland America Rewards
Two programs that reward steady sailing.
Get Quotes That Keep Your RewardsPrincess Cruises and Holland America Line run two of the oldest rewards programs at sea, and both reward steady sailing more than any single big booking. Captain’s Circle counts cruises or days; Mariner Society counts days and adds credit for onboard spending.
Princess Captain’s Circle
| Level | Requirement (whichever comes first) |
|---|---|
| Gold | After your first cruise |
| Ruby | 3 cruises or 30 cruise days |
| Platinum | 5 cruises or 50 cruise days |
| Elite | 15 cruises or 150 cruise days |
The “whichever comes first” rule is generous to both kinds of cruiser: someone who takes three short trips reaches Ruby as quickly as someone who spends a month at sea. Princess gives two cruise credits for a full suite booking (mini-suites excluded) or for a solo traveler paying the exclusive-occupancy fare; it doubles cruises, not days. A new level applies from the next cruise after you qualify, and the land portion of a cruisetour does not count.
Holland America Mariner Society
| Level | Cruise Day credits |
|---|---|
| One-Star Mariner | One completed cruise |
| Two-Star | 30 |
| Three-Star | 75 |
| Four-Star | 200 |
| Five-Star | 500 |

Holland America gives one Cruise Day credit for each day sailed, doubles credits when you pay a published fare for a suite or penthouse, and adds one bonus credit for every $300 of eligible onboard purchases (for the first two guests on a booking; casino charges and future-cruise deposits are excluded). Credits cannot be bought or transferred. At Four-Star the line adds complimentary laundry and priority check-in, tendering and disembarkation; at Five-Star, two complimentary specialty dinners and a Greenhouse Spa thermal suite day pass, among other perks. Separate medallions recognize total days sailed at 100, 300, 500 and 700 days.
Keeping Track of Two Programs
Many travelers sail both lines, since their itineraries overlap in Alaska, the Caribbean and Europe. Keep both member numbers on file, check after each voyage that the cruise or the days have posted, and note which level applies on your next booking. If a voyage goes missing from your record, the line will usually ask for the booking number and sailing date to correct it.
Which Suits You?
If you like frequent shorter cruises, Captain’s Circle’s cruise-count route is hard to beat. If you take long voyages — Holland America is known for Alaska, Europe and longer Grand Voyages — Mariner Society’s day credits add up quickly, and the onboard-spending bonus helps. Both reward suite guests: Princess with double cruise credits, Holland America with double day credits.
Early-Booking Perks for Members
Holland America runs a Mariner Society early booking bonus for members who book within a set period after a new season goes on sale; the amounts vary by voyage length and are set in the offer terms. Princess offers members early access and member savings at various times. Both are worth asking about when new itineraries open.
Princess and Holland America Questions
Do Princess and Holland America share loyalty status?
They run separate programs with their own rules. Do not assume a level on one is recognized on the other; ask before you book.
Do cruisetour land days count on Princess?
Princess says the land portion of a cruisetour does not count toward Captain’s Circle. Only the cruise does.
